Check out this interview with Robert H. Smith School of Business, Office of Career Services.
Brittany McCoy, a 2016 Marketing and Supply Chain Management graduate gave this advice to current Smith students: “Take the first job you can in the industry you want to get into. The job doesn’t matter, getting your foot in the door does!”
While at Smith, Brittany was involved in many academic programs as well as clubs, including Smith Ambassador, Strategic Design and Innovation Fellows, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Honors College. She started with figuring out what she was good at and what she was passionate about, matching potential careers that align with her interests. Brittany co-founded the SUSA-recognized club, MasTERPiece, to pursue her vision and help other students understand the fashion industry.
Brittany said that she is “a visionary who is obsessed with branding and consumer products.” Once she established her destination, she worked backwards to find roles that would help her gain the knowledge and skills she needed to achieve the ideal career.
Brittany said that it’s important to know who you are and what makes you happy! She is currently working at Bluemercury, Inc as a Digital Operations and Omnichannel Associate.
